Retracing the world’s rarest soundscapes before they disappear
The Sounds of Jean Roché retraces the footsteps of the pioneering ornithologist and bio-acoustician. Over a career spanning six decades, Jean recorded over 27,000 wildlife sounds, from Arctic Bowhead Whales to Kenyan birdsong. His recordings are now the only remaining records of many species, now forever lost. Through intimate conversations and archival footage, we bring to life Jean’s motivations, his beginnings and his legacy.
Festival screenings
We’re delighted that Jean’s story has been selected for the Bolton International Film Festival (BAFTA & BIFA Qualifying) and the De Menigoute Festival in France, becoming our latest brave project to hit the festival circuit. Full release coming soon.
